This week the UCI published the list of teams which have registered for the first Women's World Tour (WWT) licences for the 2020-2024 seasons. These licences are part of the UCI reforms which enable two type of teams being part of the pro women's peloton from 2020 onwards: Women's World Teams and Women's Continental Teams.
The Boels Dolmans cycling team can't comply yet with these reforms. This has to do with the duration of the contracts with the two main sponsors Boels-Rental and the Dolmans Landscaping Group.
Teammanager Erwin Janssen explains: "We have set the budget of the team till the end of the 2020 season. On this moment we are working hard on the budget and sponsorship for the subsequent seasons. Because of the - by the UCI - demanded four year horizon (2020-2024) we can't comply yet with the WWT licences for the next four years."
The Boels Dolmans Cycling team has deliverd the worldchampion for the last four years, won the individual WWT ranking four times, won over twentyfive worldcups and is since 2015 the winner of the UCI World Tour ranking for best team. Also this year the Boels Dolmans Team is leading this classement.
