The Dutch professional rider Anna van der Breggen has signed a two-year contract with the UCI Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team. During the seasons 2017 and 2018, the 26-year-old will ride for the women's international cycling team that is supported by its two main sponsors, Boels Rental and Dolmans Landscaping Group. Signing Van der Breggen is yet another new quality boost for the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team. With this asset, the team will grow even stronger and further consolidate its position.
Signing Van der Breggen follows a period in which the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team has secured its continuity: Danny Stam (team manager), Lizzie Armitstead, Chantal Blaak, Christine Majerus, Nikki Harris and Amalie Dideriksen have all recently extended their contracts by two years. The fact that as per next season the very talented Anna van der Breggen is going to strengthen the team, pleases the team management a great deal.
Danny Stam: “Anna is a very complete rider who fits in with the team perfectly, and is a benefit to the team’s balance. With the addition of Anna, we have gained an extra finisher who is a Jack-of-all-trades. Also, she has proven to be loyal in the past. In short, she is a great asset for the team, one of which we can all be proud.”
Anna van der Breggen: “After riding for RaboLiv for three wonderful seasons, it is time for me for something new. Choosing a great team like Boels-Dolmans felt like a logical step. I am happy with my two-year-contract, and hope to achieve my further goals with the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team.”
In 2012 Anna van der Breggen became the under-23 European time trial champion. In 2015 she won Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, La Flèche Wallonne and La Course. The same year, she became the Dutch time trial champion, she won the overall standings of the Giro Rosa, and she seized no less than three medals at the UCI Road World Championships in Richmond. Van der Breggen has been successful during this season as well. For example, she won La Flèche Wallonne for the second year in a row.
No less than four riders of the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team are in the top 12 of the current UCI Individual Rankings: Megan Guarnier (2), Lizzie Armitstead (4), Christine Majerus (9) and Chantal Blaak (12). Obviously, the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team is satisfied with the many good results that have been achieved this season. Next to that, several riders have scored victories during the Women’s World Tour. This has resulted into the fact that both the team and the individual riders of the Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team are listed at the top of the rankings.
