Boels-Dolmans has finished the OVO Energy Women's Tour with two riders in the top five of the overall classification. In the final stage from Dolgellau to Colwyn Bay, ultimately little changed. Luxembourg champion Christine Majerus finished fourth in the overall standings, Amy Pieters fifth.
The team can look back on a successful week with the stage victory of former world champion Amalie Dideriksen. Majerus also finished third in the second stage to Daventry and wore the mountain jersey for a day. Amy Pieters was riding in the sprint jersey all week, which eventually went to Coryn Rivera who also won the overall classification in the OVO Energy Women’s Tour.
Amalie Dideriksen was delighted with her first victory of this season. "I am very happy that I was able to win a stage. It is my first individual victory in 2018. I was very close a few weeks ago in Yorkshire, so it's nice to finally win again. The team has done a perfect lead-out. It went exactly as we discussed beforehand. This gives us a lot of confidence for the future. If you look at the sprinters that were here then I am happy with my victory. Because almost everyone was here."
Dideriksen looks back on the past five days with a good feeling. "It is a beautiful race, well organized and it is great to see so many people at the side of the road. We worked well together as a team. We have tried to get Sunweb into difficulty by attacking multiple times but unfortunately we did not succeed. Still, we can be pleased that Christine and Amy finished fourth and fifth in the standings. And the most important thing is that we won a stage. "
Christine Majerus concurred with her Danish teammate. "Our highlight, of course, was the victory of Amalie. Today we tried to move up in the overall ranking but in the end it did not work out. Amy was very active in the final and was in a nice breakaway. Also Chantal and Amalie have been very active. I tried to do a good sprint but I was not good enough anymore. We are fourth and fifth overall which is pretty good. Personally, I am very happy with my form after my mid-season break. It went better every day, also with the team. I hope this is a good sign for the rest of the season. "
