Amy Pieters returned to international track cycling at the European Championships in Berlin this weekend. A succesful return: Pieter won a bronze medal at the side of Kirsten Wild in the madison. Only the British and Irish riders gathered more points today.
"In recent years my priorities were in road cycling, but I decided to come back to the track. One of the reasons for that is the olympic stature for the madison. That doesn't mean my goals in road cycling got less ambitious by the way. The last few weeks I noticed I gained some extra power by riding a lot on the road, on the other hand my track speed had reduced a little. I think it's positive Kirsten and I leave this championships wit a medal."
"I have to discuss the rest of the winter with national coach Peter Schep and team manager Danny Stam. I would really like to compete in the world championships in Apeldoorn next year. It would be great if we could race to win there."
