Nikki Harris second in Rucphen

23 January 2016

Nikki Harris started the weekend with a second place in the cyclocross of Rucphen in The Netherlands, not far away from Hoogerheide, where on Sunday the final round of the World Cup will be organised. In the sprint Helen Wyman was a bit faster. But Harris was satisfied after the race. "Yes I'm pretty happy with today's race , I've had a good weeks training in Girona (Spain) and I want to have two good races this weekend before the world championships. I felt good in the race and after two laps Helen Wyman and me were alone. We raced the whole race together, so it turned out to be a nice battle. I felt good in the corners and like I had some speed back in my legs the last lap. I took the lead but missed my pedal in the final corner so Helen got the first kick and could win. I'm happy with second and looking forward to tomorrow."  Christine Majerus crossed the line as 6th today in Rucphen. "I wanted to do a big training week, therefore I will race twice. I felt good, but did not take risks in the technical parts, where I lost too much time. But I hope it was a good opener for Hoogerheide."
