Chantal Blaak finishes 7nd in a hectic Ronde van Vlaanderen with many crashes. The Boels-Dolmans team was one of the victims in a crash which affected four of our riders amongst Jip van den Bos (abandoned race), Amalie Dideriksen, Amy Pieters and Chantal Blaak. The last three riders managed to fight their way back into the peloton. This took a lot of effort and energy. Energy which wasn't there in the final on the Kwaremont and Patersberg where Annemiek van Vleuten, Marta Bastianelli and Cecilie Ludwig attacked. The three leaders managed to stay ahead despite a strong comeback of Chantal Blaak in a pursuing group. In the final sprint Marta Bastianelli won for Annemiek van Vleuten and Cecilie Ludwig. Amy Pieters finished 10th and Jolien D'hoore crossed the finishline on a 41st position. A remarkable achievement knowing that she broke collarbone a couple of weeks ago. Christine Majerus and Amalie Dideriksen finished as 60th and 61st. DS Danny Stam looks back with a positive feeling. "As a team we performed strong today, especially if you keep that crash in mind where four of our riders lay on the ground. Chantal countered very strong in the final. She lacked a few percentages of power which she used to come back in the group after a crash earlier in the race."
